Responsibilities

The Mechanical Estimator will be responsible for all facets of the business including Preconstruction cost estimating of Plumbing, Process Piping, Security Surveillance, Fire Protection, HVAC, Controls, Testing and Balancing.

Key Role

Highly developed relationship within the Consultants, Sub-Contractors and Equipment Suppliers will enable you to be effective in achieving cost competitive tender price within a short timeline. You should already have a strong network or database of sub contractor and materials unit prices to be effective in this position.
Experience in negotiating with project consultants, sub-contractors, materials and equipment suppliers to achieve the Client’s objectives, timeline and cost.
Control of all day-to-day commercial and contractual aspects of large construction projects
Ensure that return on capital and resource employed is maximized.
Evaluate and procure sub-contractors and suppliers in line with contract specification ensuring maximum value for money is achieved whilst maintaining the groups ethical, moral and environmental policies.
Prepare, submit and agree main contract valuations
•Prepare sub-contract valuations and administer sub-contracts at project level.
Prepare commercial reports for review in a timely fashion.
Ensure accurate commercial records are maintained of on site activities.
Attend internal and external project meetings, provide solid commercial and cost advice at these meetings
Work closely with the project manager to ensure the project objectives are met.
Prepare and issue sub-contract documentation
Train and put to work junior staff in an effective manner
Understand the construction process and provide value engineering opportunities

Requirements:

The successful candidates will have the appropriate experience working of at least 7 – 10 years of working experience for a main contractor on high rise about 40 storey building, multi-million projects or specialized projects as listed above. The ability to work closely with management and develop key working relationships within the business is essential.

You must have strong and demonstrated teamwork experience in your previous employment with natural career progression. You would have most probably gained the above experience by working in a contracting environment involved with high rise development.

Preferably you will have a degree in Mechanical/Electrical related studies with at least 10 years of experience. Proficient knowledge of commonly-used cost estimating concepts, practices and procedures within the mechanical or electrical disciplines. In-depth knowledge of complex MEP systems in buildings.

SALARY RANGE: RM60K – RM96K

POSITION SUMMARY:

The HR Manager is a generalist position who provides value added services to management and employees that reflects the business objectives of the organization while meeting the needs of their customers and assuring a positive working atmosphere. Partner with management to ensure their sites are well staffed and trained in management, operations, and employee relations. Ensures that the management / workforce Relationship is one of cooperation and understanding. Responsible for implementing and coordinating corporate HR policies and programs within all areas of HR and ensuring compliance with all applicable labor laws.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Counsels and supports employees and managers to promote positive employee relations plan.
Manages and resolves complex employee relations issues. Conducts effective, thorough and objective investigations and ensures proper resolution.
Maintain in depth knowledge of local labor law and other legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance. Partner with legal consultants as needed/required.
Provides day to day performance management guidance to management (coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions).
Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, increase productivity and retention.
Provides HR Policy guidance and interpretation.
Identify training needs for managers and individual coaching needs.
Assists with pay and benefit program administration.
Implements personnel policies and procedures; maintains handbook on policies and procedures.
Maintains employee records, reports, and logs to maintain accurate and complete employee files.
Assists with recruitment for all exempt and nonexempt employees including international staffing, and temporary employees. Acts as site administrator for recruiting and on-boarding program.
Establishes and maintains department records and reports. Participates in staff meetings and attends other meetings as needed.
Keeps management and employees informed of all changes in HR policies/practices/procedures
Assists employees to resolve HR processing issues such as pay, work visa and benefits; contacts appropriate personnel to resolve situation
Ensures that local HR practices comply with applicable employment and labor law
Serves as participant/project leader on HR project teams
May be required to attend and/or support managers with Unemployment Insurance hearings
Performs other related duties as required.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE SPECIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in applicable program required and at least 5 years of professional HR experience including generalist responsibilities.
Previous experience with multi-site, multi-country, multi-functional organizations required.
Experience working in dual reporting relationships a plus.
