Responsibilities

• Due to the surge in construction activities in 2012, our client is looking for a Mechanical Services Estimator oversee all aspects of the construction activities during Pre-Construction phase of future developments.
• The Mechanical Estimator will be responsible for all facets of the business including Preconstruction cost estimating of Plumbing, Process Piping, Security Surveillance, Fire Protection, HVAC, Controls, Testing and Balancing.

Key Role

• Highly developed relationship within the Consultants, Sub-Contractors and Equipment Suppliers will enable you to be effective in achieving cost competitive tender price within a short timeline. You should already have a strong network or database of sub contractor and materials unit prices to be effective in this position.
• Experience in negotiating with project consultants, sub-contractors, materials and equipment suppliers to achieve the Client’s objectives, timeline and cost.
• Control of all day-to-day commercial and contractual aspects of large construction projects
• Ensure that return on capital and resource employed is maximized.
• Evaluate and procure sub-contractors and suppliers in line with contract specification ensuring maximum value for money is achieved whilst maintaining the groups ethical, moral and environmental policies.
• Prepare, submit and agree main contract valuations
  •Prepare sub-contract valuations and administer sub-contracts at project level.
• Prepare commercial reports for review in a timely fashion.
• Ensure accurate commercial records are maintained of on site activities.
• Attend internal and external project meetings, provide solid commercial and cost advice at these meetings
• Work closely with the project manager to ensure the project objectives are met.
• Prepare and issue sub-contract documentation
• Train and put to work junior staff in an effective manner
• Understand the construction process and provide value engineering opportunities

Requirements:

The successful candidates will have the appropriate experience working of at least 7 – 10 years of working experience for a main contractor on high rise about 40 storey building, multi-million projects or specialized projects as listed above. The ability to work closely with management and develop key working relationships within the business is essential.

You must have strong and demonstrated teamwork experience in your previous employment with natural career progression. You would have most probably gained the above experience by working in a contracting environment involved with high rise development.

Preferably you will have a degree in Mechanical/Electrical related studies with at least 10 years of experience. Proficient knowledge of commonly-used cost estimating concepts, practices and procedures within the mechanical or electrical disciplines. In-depth knowledge of complex MEP systems in buildings.
